Patent for Key Word and Phrase Matching Methodology Issued to News Technologies, LLC
Thursday, October 04, 2007
Portland, OR -- News Technologies, LLC announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued a patent to the company for its key word and phrase matching methodology.
The patent number is 7,277,887 and is titled "High-Speed Token and Phrase Matching via Successive Complexity Reduction".
The underlying ideas and methods for this patent form the foundation for TriggerEngine, the algorithmic matching technology utilized in all of News Technologies' products. The patent covers a methodology for quickly matching key words or phrases against incoming content, and then selectively and massively distributing that content to end users based on those matches, through a variety of delivery mechanisms such as their desktops, widgets, mobile devices, etc.
"We are absolutely exhilarated to have achieved this truly milestone accomplishment in the history of our company," said Steve Burrows, President of News Technologies. "Having been vetted in more than one deep level review by more than one examiner, we feel confident our intellectual property is safeguarded now and into the future by exceptionally strong protection."
Additionally, News Technologies recently filed a third patent for a unique methodology of defining and delivering hyper-localized content. That content could be anything but might include items like news, weather, emergency alerts or even extremely localized advertising. For example, hyper-localized might represent any single or multiple types of content sent directly to individuals in narrowly-defined neighborhoods within a city, or even more granularly, to offices within buildings. The way in which special areas are defined and localized content subsequently distributed to users within them, forms part of the novel nature of this patent filing. This technology is currently demonstrable in the company's latest version of its software.
