Mobile Aspects Receives Additional Patent for RFID Technology

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Corazon Conference on Heart and Vascular Care

Pittsburgh, PA -- Mobile Aspects, the industry leader in providing RFID-enabled solutions to improve profitability, efficiency, and safety within hospitals, has received another patent for its iRISupply clinical resource management solution. Designed to support the unique inventory management needs of high-cost medical devices and supplies used in surgical specialty areas such as interventional cardiology, interventional radiology, endovascular surgery and others, the cabinet-based iRISupply system automates the manual workflows used to store, track, and manage items by using RFID.

The patent applies to the proprietary antenna design arrangements within the solution that facilitate the creation of RFID tag identification and recognition fields to provide a highly accurate reading performance on items stored within the cabinet-based solution. By creating a field that covers multiple reading planes, Mobile Aspects can ensure the highest levels of technical operation to support the performance requirements required for deployment within the healthcare setting. This additional patent continues to provide Mobile Aspects with recognition as a leader in innovation as it relates to the design and deployment of RFID technology to solve the unique challenges within hospital environments.

"This additional patent protection for our iRISupply system gives us tremendous confidence in our ability to successfully innovate with RFID-enabled systems that help improve the operational performance of our hospital client partners," shared Suneil Mandava, President and Chief Executive Officer at Mobile Aspects. "As we continue to deploy systems within the surgical specialty settings, we look forward to having our clients realize the benefits that are uniquely provided through RFID."

To demonstrate the benefits of the iRISupply solution, Mobile Aspects will be exhibiting at the upcoming Corazon Conference on Heart and Vascular Care being held October 24-26 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Common benefits to medical device and supply management include improved charge capture accuracy, eliminated product expiration costs, improved security and retrieval of stored items, and improved management for products that are recalled or time-sensitive.

The iRISupply system is part of the Mobile Aspects One System of CARE™ solution, which uses identification and information technologies to automate processes for clinical resource management by healthcare providers. One System of CARE uses Texas Instruments Inc.’s Tag-it™ HF-I portfolio of high-frequency ISO/IEC 15693 RFID tags. By automating the storage, tracking, utilization, and billing of clinical resources through RFID, healthcare providers realize enhanced care quality, increased productivity, accurate billing, and significant inventory cost savings.
