Choate, Hall & Stewart Names New Intellectual Property Practice Group Leaders

Boston, MA – The law firm of Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP today announced that John D. Lanza has been named Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group and Eric J. Marandett has been named Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group.

Mr. Marandett will oversee Choate’s high profile Intellectual Property Litigation practice for clients such as Akamai, Astellas Pharma Technologies, EMC Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, and Wyeth. Choate is currently serving as lead IP defense counsel in the closely watched Amgen v. TKT/Aventis case. Mr. Marandett was named by the National Law Journal as one of the nation’s top lawyers under the age of 40 in 2002. He is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Marandett received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1992 and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Tufts University in 1988.

Mr. Lanza will oversee Choate's established Intellectual Property Group, which handles patent prosecution and strategic counseling for a wide range of companies such as Citrix Systems, Inc., Dana Farber, Gloucester Pharmaceuticals, Harmonix Music Systems, Inc., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Wyeth. Mr. Lanza is listed in Chambers USA as a leading attorney in the field of intellectual property. He received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1995, and his M.S.E.E. in 1988 and B.E.E. in 1987 from Georgia Institute of Technology.
