Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Silicon Valley, CA – Dechert LLP announced today that Kenneth S. Korea has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. He will be based in the firm’s Silicon Valley office. Korea was previously with Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

"Dechert’s commitment to excellence, its top-flight IP litigators, and the caliber of talent throughout the firm are the key things that drew me to the firm," said Korea. "I am delighted to be part of Dechert’s talented IP group, many of whom I have had the pleasure of working with in the past."

Korea concentrates his practice on patent litigation, International Trade Commission Section 337 investigations, trademark litigation and trade secret misappropriation litigation. He also provides counseling to clients regarding patent licensing, infringement allegations and leveraging of intellectual property. Korea has significant trial experience, having tried to verdict 11 jury cases and more than 30 bench cases as lead trial counsel.

"Ken’s intellectual property litigation experience, particularly in the software and technology fields, will be a key addition to the strategic counsel we provide to our clients," said Dechert chairman Barton J. Winokur. "His experience counseling on IP technology issues will be a major asset to the practice and to the firm."

Korea, a graduate of Cornell University (B.S., Electrical Engineering, 1988) and Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., 1993), served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida prior to entering private practice. Korea was a judicial clerk for the Hon. Maurice M. Paul, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Florida, from 1993-95.

He is admitted to practice in California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

"Dechert’s Intellectual Property practice group offers a deep bench of experienced trial lawyers," said Chris Scott Graham, managing partner of Dechert’s Silicon Valley office. "Ken’s capabilities and proven track record is a perfect fit for our practice and our clients."
