ShoreGroup Awarded Patent for High-Availability Systems Management Technology

ShoreGroup's fourth CaseSentry® Systems Management patent addresses management reliability & performance for large-scale enterprise networks.

New York, NY -- ShoreGroup, Inc., a leading converged network solutions and management provider, is pleased to announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted the company its fourth in a series of allowed patents for systems management technology. US Patent No. 7,296,194 was issued on November 13, 2007 and is entitled "Method and Apparatus for Maintaining the Status of Objects in Computer Networks Using Virtual State Machines."

CaseSentry's patented architecture provides a powerful foundation from which a variety of systems and application management capabilities are performed, including monitoring, diagnosing and documenting problems that impact systems and processes within a complex network environment. This new patent extends ShoreGroup's CaseSentry Systems Management patent portfolio to include management of large-scale enterprise environments using virtual state machines that run from persistent storage to increase their availability and performance. CaseSentry's state machines contain agent-less system and application-specific management instruction logic to quickly detect and validate events that are impacting critical business processes. The machines engage and delegate tasks to other system modules and processes in an extremely resource-efficient manner to enable CaseSentry's wide scalability. These state machines are optimized to accommodate the growing volumes of management data formats within the enterprise, and they can be created and modified quickly in response to new business requirements. The patent was co-developed by David M. Lovy, ShoreGroup's Chief Engineer, Brant M. Fagan, Manager of Software Development and Robert J. Bojanek, Executive Vice President.
