Friday, December 14, 2007
Ottawa, Ontario -- International Datacasting Corporation (TSX: IDC) announced today that the company has been awarded a Canadian patent related to the encryption and decryption of digital data streams.
The Patent awarded to IDC describes a method of ensuring synchronisation of the encryption of a stream of data packets from a transmission end and the decryption of the stream of data packets at a reception end. The Patent covers the use of a heart beat mechanism which operates within a cryptoperiod in conjunction with changing encryption keys. The method ensures reliable operation over a range of transmission speeds and is applicable to IDC's own encryption products as well as the ability to use commercially available third party systems.

The security of data and the ability to reliably control subscriber access are paramount in many of our applications - especially for financial information, digital cinema and IPTV. The technology covered by this patent strengthens our intellectual property portfolio and demonstrates that our research and development investment continues to help distinguish IDC by technology leadership in our industry."
The Patent is entitled "Encryption Synchronisation for Use in Data Streams" and has been assigned patent number CA 2318026.
