Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Firm Continues Successful Diversification Efforts

New York, NY -- Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the world’s leading law firms, announced today that Dr. Dorothy Auth, a member of the Intellectual Property Group in New York, and Jonathan Kanter, a member of the Antitrust Group based in Washington, have been elected to the partnership.

"We are very pleased to welcome these outstanding attorneys to the partnership. Their promotions speak to their tremendous talent and are indicative of the continued growth and expansion of our premier Litigation Department, a group that now numbers over 250 lawyers. These promotions also are further evidence of the success of our continued diversification efforts, a strategy put in place several years ago to better position the firm for inevitable economic cycles," said Robert O. Link, Jr., Cadwalader’s Chairman and Managing Partner.

"It is a great pleasure to congratulate Dorothy and Jonathan, both accomplished litigators and business advisors, and to celebrate their hard work, dedication, and valuable contributions to their clients, their practice areas and the firm," said Cadwalader’s Litigation Department Chairman Gregory A. Markel.

Dr. Auth, 45, concentrates her practice in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device patent matters. She has extensive experience in litigation, interferences, client counseling, and patent prosecution and has been involved in foreign actions, including European and Japanese opposition proceedings, nullity actions, cancellation proceedings, and litigation matters. Prior to joining Cadwalader, she was a partner with Morgan & Finnegan in New York. She earned her J.D. from St. John's School of Law, a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Tufts Medical School, and her B.A. from Rutgers.

Mr. Kanter, 34, counsels clients in the full range of antitrust matters, with a specific focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and representing clients in connection with investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission. He has experience representing clients in matters involving a wide variety of industries, including software, lodging, gaming, media, cable, internet, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, chemicals, and food products. Prior to joining Cadwalader, Mr. Kanter worked for the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Competition, where he investigated large mergers and acquisitions in the cable, oil, Internet, and retail industries. Previously, he served as Associate Editor and was a regular contributor to The Party Line, a publication of the American Bar Association's Section of Antitrust Law, Communications Industry Committee. He received his J.D. from Washington University, and his B.A., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany.
