He has extensive experience with the automotive industry, its various component products and processes, and related technologies.
"Rick brings a uniquely valuable skill set to Baker Donelson and our intellectual property practice," said Michael J. Powell, co-managing shareholder of the Firm's Atlanta office. Having counseled boards of directors of companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, Rick greatly enhances the depth of knowledge available to our clients, and we are proud to welcome him to the Firm."
After working as an engineer with Ford Motor Co., Mr. Walker began practicing law with Harness, Dickey & Pierce, a well-established Michigan intellectual property law firm. He was next General Counsel to a publicly traded diversified industrial manufacturer and an automotive industry supplier for 14 years, where he completed numerous acquisitions and business combinations, and was significantly involved in many other business transactions including potential and completed joint ventures, private and public stock offerings, and licensing arrangements. Mr. Walker later ran a consulting practice focused on litigation risk assessment of commercial disputes, intellectual property counseling, strategic planning, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and corporate governance. Prior to joining Baker Donelson, he was managing partner of the Atlanta office of Clements Walker, an intellectual property law firm.
A graduate of the University of Detroit School of Law, Mr. Walker is a member of the Advisory Board and co-founder of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors and is a founding member of the American Bar Association Special Committee on Computer Gaming and Virtual Worlds.
