Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Washington, DC -- Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP announced today that Kristin L. Yohannan has joined the national law firm’s Patent Litigation Group in its Washington, D.C., office as a partner. Yohannan comes to Sonnenschein from Wiley Rein LLP.

"Kristin is an outstanding patent litigator with a diverse range of expertise in the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnical and electrical fields," notes Alexander J. Hadjis, chair of Sonnenschein’s Patent Litigation Group. "She is an excellent addition to our growing team, and the former Federal Circuit experience she brings to the table adds to our growing list of attorneys with that valuable experience in their backgrounds."

Yohannan has years of experience counseling clients on a variety of patent, trademark and trade secret matters before federal and state courts. She has represented clients such as St. Jude Medical, Eli Lilly, Merck, SmithKline, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Hewlett Packard, Verizon and several other multi-national corporations. Previously, Yohannan was a law clerk to Judge Pauline Newman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She also served as an associate solicitor at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she advised the director of the USPTO.

"Sonnenschein is a dynamic firm with an exceptional patent litigation team. I look forward to working with such a top-notch group of professionals," states Yohannan.

Yohannan received a J.D. degree with high honors, Order of the Coif, from the George Washington University Law School. She also earned an M.S. degree in molecular genetics from the University of Connecticut and B.A. degrees in biology and chemistry from Lafayette College.

Sonnenschein's Patent Litigation Group continues to expand in offices nationwide. The practice now numbers over 30 patent trial attorneys, including four former Federal Circuit law clerks and three former trial court law clerks.
