Shutts & Bowen LLP Adds Partner to Intellectual Property Practice Group

Shutts & Bowen LLP has added Joseph R. Englander as a partner in the firm’s statewide Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Mr. Englander, an intellectual property attorney for more than 15 years and a registered patent attorney since 1995, will work with all of Shutts & Bowen’s six offices around the state.

Mr. Englander will work with statewide, national and global companies in sectors as varied as high technology, manufacturing and the hospitality industry.

His experience includes patents, trademarks and copyrights. He has litigated patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition cases, prosecuted patents and trademarks and filed copyright registrations. He has also performed intellectual property audits and rendered opinions for his clients on a variety of related issues. Mr. Englander is a frequent speaker at CLE seminars on intellectual property law and is active in the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Jonathan Cohen, Chairman of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, said: "We are pleased to add someone with Joe’s background and breadth of experience to the firm. With six Shutts & Bowen offices located strategically throughout the state, Joe will be readily available to all our IP clients throughout Florida."

Englander agreed, saying: "Joining a firm with a statewide presence will give me the opportunity to expand my practice significantly. I look forward to working with the attorneys at Shutts on their and my clients’ IP-related needs."

Mr. Englander received his J.D. from Fordham University in 1991 and his B.S. from the College of Engineering at Cornell University in 1987. He is the Chair of Broward County Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section and is an International Amicus Subcommittee member with the International Trademark Association. Mr. Englander is also a member of the New York Bar.

Mr. Englander joins Shutts & Bowen from the Fort Lauderdale intellectual property boutique Christopher & Weisberg, P.A.
