Thursday, May 08, 2008
Frankfurt, Germany & New York, NY -- Kaye Scholer announced today that Dr. Johann-Christoph ("Hans") Gaedertz, a leading IP lawyer and litigator, will join the firm as partner, effective July 1, 2008.
Gaedertz, previously a partner at Mayer Brown, will join Kaye Scholer LLP’s rapidly growing Frankfurt Office, where he will continue to serve clients in intellectual property, unfair competition, antitrust and litigation matters.
"I have known Kaye Scholer for many years, and its reputation in Germany is excellent," said Gaedertz. "It is a worldwide litigation powerhouse, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues in Frankfurt and in our other offices to help it grow even further."
"Hans has a fantastic reputation and his arrival is a perfect fit for our strategic plan to continue to expand the Frankfurt Office," said Dr. Gottfried Freier, Frankfurt Managing Partner. "With Hans, and our other recent additions, we are building one of the pre-eminent litigation practices in Germany."
"I have known and admired Hans for almost 20 years," added New York partner, Michael Blechman. "I could not be more delighted that he is joining us."
Gaedertz is the third litigation partner to join Kaye Scholer’s Frankfurt office this year. Wolfgang Leip, a leading German patent litigator and former head of Mayer Brown’s patent litigation practice, joined Kaye Scholer in February, and Dr. Michael Weigel, a leading commercial and corporate litigator, joined Kaye Scholer from Linklaters in March.
