Associate Brings Additional Patent Litigation Expertise To Rapidly Growing Washington, DC Office

Washington, DC -- Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP, an intellectual property law firm of more than 230 attorneys and patent professionals, announced today that Rahul Das has joined the firm as an associate in the Litigation Group. Mr. Das is the latest addition to Townsend’s Washington, DC office, which has grown to 16 attorneys in less than a year since its July 2007 launch.

Das’s practice focuses on patent litigation, with an emphasis on chemical cases and ANDA cases arising under the Hatch-Waxman Act. He has experience counseling both brand and generic pharmaceutical companies. He also has extensive experience in patent prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and client counseling in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and mechanical fields. In addition, Das has significant experience in the preparation of patentability, validity/invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions. He has also conducted pre-acquisition Intellectual Property due diligence investigations.

"We are very happy to welcome Rahul to our growing office," remarked Gary Morris, Partner-In-Charge of the Washington, DC office. "His skill set will be invaluable to our continued success representing pharmaceutical and life sciences companies involved in patent disputes. I look forward to working with him."

Das received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he majored in chemical engineering.

Townsend teams with businesses, inventors, entrepreneurs, scientists and investors to protect their innovative products and ideas. With offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Walnut Creek, San Diego, Denver, Seattle, Washington, DC and Tokyo, Townsend has more than 230 attorneys and patent professionals, many with advanced technical degrees and extensive scientific and business experience.
