CalciTech US and Canadian Patent Applications Granted
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
Hamilton, Bermuda -- CalciTech Ltd. (Plus Markets: CLK) (OTCBB: CLKTF) announces today that the Company’s patent applications in both the US and Canada have been granted.
Chuck Kunesh, Director of North American operations for CalciTech, stated "The granting of patents in both the US and Canada is a key milestone for the Company that validates the commercial uniqueness and viability of our Synthetic Calcium Carbonate (SCC) process and products. North America is a very important territory for us considering the market size of mineral pigment consumption, the wide variety of end markets and the large availability of raw materials. Armed with these patents, we can now move ahead with the projects we have identified in the area through feasibility and development towards building."
Michael Watts, Director of Marketing for CalciTech, stated "CalciTech is now free to make its technology available in North America. As in Europe, we will be aiming our products not solely at the paper industry but will also be looking to enter the specialty markets for dry products such as the polymer industry where SCC has been shown to impart a number of important improvements to the finished product."
"We will be talking to new and existing partners and potential customers with the aim of introducing the products in the near future. The performance/price advantages of CalciTech’s SCC based products are compelling for the paper and polymer industries where costs are under pressure. SCC is made from local materials and waste, combined with CO2. The growing trend towards the use of more sustainable materials, should also favor the use of SCC."
Roger Leopard, CEO for CalciTech, stated, "In conjunction with our program to enter the North American market commercially on the back of the patents granting, we are also working on upgrading the listing of our stock to a more senior North American capital market. We believe that the two initiatives will mutually contribute to a greater visibility of the Company in this region."
The directors of the company take responsibility for this announcement.
