Alston & Bird Expands Dallas IP Litigation Practice

Adds senior patent/IP litigator
Dallas, TX -- Alston & Bird LLP announced two new additions to its Intellectual Property Litigation Group. Michael J. Newton has joined as head of the Dallas Intellectual Property Litigation practice group, and Jason W. Cook has joined as a partner also in this group.

Attorney Biographies
Michael J. Newton, is the head of the IP Litigation practice in the Dallas office and is a senior patent/IP litigator who has handled successfully dozens of plaintiff patent infringement cases. At Alston & Bird he will focus on patent litigation and client counseling in a wide variety of technologies and industries.
He is a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in physics, and is a graduate from the University of Texas Law School. Mr. Newton is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas, the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California, the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the Texas and California Bars. Previously, he was with the law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue LLP in Dallas.
Jason W. Cook’s emphasis is on patent litigation and enforcement. He has extensive experience resolving intellectual property disputes involving a wide range of intellectual property issues and technical disciplines and representing a number of non-practicing entities in litigation enforcing patent rights.
Mr. Cook is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in mechanical engineering and a graduate of the University of Texas Law School. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and, in addition to his litigation practice, is experienced in the preparation and prosecution of patents in the electrical and mechanical fields. He was previously with the law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue LLP in Dallas.
