Monday, September 08, 2008

Partner groups from K&L Gates and Sonnenschein will enhance Firm’s existing practices in Intellectual Property & Technology, IP Litigation, Corporate, Real Estate, Labor & Employment, Commercial Litigation and Public Finance

New York, NY -- Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, a full service 200-attorney law firm, has opened a new office in New York City and added seven attorneys, whose practice areas include Intellectual Property and Technology, IP Litigation, Corporate, Real Estate, Labor and Employment, Commercial Litigation and Public Finance.

Mark Peroff, Darren Saunders and Keith Danish have joined from K&L Gates. Rick Fischbein and Robert Lanza have joined from Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, LLP and Samuel Watkins has joined from Greenberg Traurig, LLP. In addition, Justin Driscoll, who joined the firm last year, served previously as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the New York State Housing Finance Agency and the State of New York Mortgage Agency. Peroff, Saunders, Fischbein, Lanza, Driscoll and Watkins are all partners. Danish joins the firm as Of Counsel.

In addition, John Langan, the firm’s Managing Partner, will be resident in the New York City office, dedicating a portion of each week to the new office during the first year of integration.

The new office is located at Seven Times Square. The firm previously maintained a small presence in lower Manhattan.

"Expanding into New York City furthers our northeast corridor strategy and allows us to better serve our large, national client roster, adding depth to several of the firm’s existing practices with a group of outstanding lawyers," said John Langan. "Hiscock & Barclay is committed to a business model that supports a demanding client base, provides results efficiently and cost effectively, shares knowledge and information among practice groups and combines an entrepreneurial spirit with the resources of a large firm. This model enables great lawyers, who represent industry leading clients, to provide outstanding service and build their practices. Our aggressive, modern approach to business creates a solid foundation for future growth. As large firms price themselves out of the market in certain practice areas, we believe that our business model, broad range of resources and innovative approach will serve our clients and our attorneys well."

Hiscock & Barclay’s New York City expansion comes on the heels of the opening of a new office in Boston, which now houses 4 attorneys in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation practices.
