Sangwon S. Kim Joins Williams Mullen as Partner in Intellectual Property Practice

McLean, VA -- Williams Mullen announces that Sangwon S. Kim has joined its Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in the Tysons Corner, VA office. Sangwon Kim practices intellectual property law with a focus on patent prosecution and patent litigation matters counseling in the electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical arts and design patents for domestic and foreign clients. He gives opinions on patentability, combined non-infringement and validity opinions in the area of electrical and electro-mechanical cases. Mr. Kim’s work involves post grant proceedings, including reissue practice and reexamination. He also has experience with trademark filing and prosecution works. Mr. Kim is fluent in Korean.

Mr. Kim represents clients in a variety of high-tech industries, including semiconductor fabrication and processing, semiconductor packaging and testing, display technologies (e.g., LCD, OLED), digital signal processor (DSP) chip set for audio and video processing, consumer electronics, telecommunication applications, computer peripherals, optical devices, mobile telecommunications, and optical systems.

Prior to joining Williams Mullen Mr. Kim was a member of technology planning team with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. to assist with licensing matters and technology evaluations. He lectures regularly on various topics related to licensing and patent prosecution, and has published a number of articles in these fields.

Mr. Kim is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia, the Northern and Southern districts of Indiana, the Indiana Supreme Court and USPTO, Reg. No. 54, 221.

Mr. Kim received his master of laws degree from George Washington University Law School, his juris doctor degree from the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis and his B.S. degree from Inha University in Korea.
