Loeb & Loeb Adds Two New Partners and Establishes Advanced Media & Technology Department

Monday, September 15, 2008

Kenneth A. Adler and Steve A. Semerdjian Join New York Office

New York, NY -- Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that they have added two new partners to their New York office, Kenneth A. Adler and Steve A. Semerdjian. The firm has also formalized a new Advanced Media and Technology Department that will be co-chaired by New York-based partners James D. Taylor and Kenneth R. Florin. Both Mr. Adler and Mr. Semerdjian will become members of this newly formed department and Mr. Adler will also serve as chair of the firm’s Technology and Outsourcing Practice Group, within the department.

The Advanced Media and Technology Department will encompass the Advertising and Promotions, Emerging Media, IP, and the new Technology and Outsourcing practices and expand upon the firm’s ability to counsel clients regarding Internet and interactive media regulation, licensing and distribution agreements, mobile/cellular technology, online service joint ventures, cross-industry promotion and co-branding, music and visual content agreements, patent, copyright, trademark and intellectual property matters.

"We’re very enthusiastic about the formation of this new department; it will create a larger team of attorneys with a variety of areas of expertise and allow us to serve our clients in a more comprehensive nature," said Mr. Taylor. Mr. Florin added "Jim and I are excited to have Ken and Steve join us – their expertise expands upon our capabilities and we look forward to working with them."

Last month Loeb & Loeb hired Tami Carmichael to join the firm’s Emerging Media and Advertising and Promotions Practice Groups. Loeb & Loeb Co-Chair Michael Beck commented, "The additions of Ken, Steve and Tami are representative of our commitment to expanding the level of service we are able to provide to our advanced media and technology clients, a core industry focus for our firm."

"While our Emerging Media Practice is widely recognized as one of the premiere practices in the fields of entertainment and media, we recognize that our clients would benefit from expanding that practice group to include more traditional technology, IT and outsourcing capabilities," said Loeb & Loeb Co-Chair John Frankenheimer. "Formalizing an Advanced Media and Technology Department will allow us to serve a wider array of sectors including financial services, insurance and healthcare."

For over 20 years, Mr. Adler has concentrated his practice on complex global and domestic outsourcing and technology transactions, including drafting and negotiating all types of arrangements including business process and information technology outsourcings. He has significant experience addressing the creation of, and strategies relating to, multi-sourced environments, as well as renegotiation and termination of existing outsourcing agreements.

Mr. Semerdjian concentrates his practice on complex outsourcing and information technology matters, including drafting and negotiating domestic and international business process and information technology outsourcing agreements. He also regularly advises clients on general business, information technology and intellectual property matters.

Mr. Adler received his J.D. from The George Washington University School of Law and his B.S., cum laude from Union College where he majored in computer science. Mr. Semerdjian received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Chicago.

"Steve and I are delighted to be joining Loeb & Loeb and working with this talented group of attorneys," said Mr. Adler. "The fact that we will be joining this newly formed department on day one speaks volumes of the firm’s dedication to being innovative and service oriented."

Both Mr. Adler and Mr. Semerdjian were previously partners in the New York office of Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP where Mr. Adler acted as Chair of the Outsourcing Group.
