Covington’s Expanding IP Practice Adds Gillian Thackray as Partner

San Francisco, CA -- Covington & Burling LLP is pleased to announce that Gillian Thackray has joined the firm’s growing intellectual property practice as partner. She will be resident in Covington’s San Francisco office.
Ms. Thackray specializes in patent litigation and counseling. She has handled patent matters for clients in numerous industries, including telecommunications, networking, biomedical and biotech industries. With training and experience in the chemical and biological sciences, she has a particular expertise in biotechnology and biomedical devices.
Timothy Hester, chair of Covington’s management committee, commented: "We’ve been making substantial strides in building a strong patent litigation practice in our Washington office. With the addition of Gillian to our San Francisco office, we’re well on our way towards establishing a strong West Coast counterpart, with excellent lawyers on both coasts who have a wide range of patent litigation capabilities."
Ms. Thackray received her B.A. in Biology and Public Policy from Pomona College and her law degree from Duke University. Before attending law school, she worked for the Environmental Protection Agency conducting scientific risk analyses.

Ms. Thackray is a fellow of the American Academy of Trial Counsel, member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
