Mirage Networks Receives USPTO Notice of Allowance for Third NAC Patent

Wednesday, October 01, 2008

Austin, TX -- Mirage Networks, developer of patented, full-cycle Network Access Control (NAC) technology, today announced that the company received a Notice of Allowance for U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 10/277,762 and the issue fee has been paid, which will result in the patent being issued in the normal course of business. With one pre-admission NACpatentawarded in December 2006 and another post-admission NAC award in process, Mirage controls the broadest portfolio of intellectual property on pre- and post-admission NAC. In addition to these three patents, Mirage has seven patents pending.

This patent uses an agentless, out-of-band security model for network access control and complements the Company's 2006 patent award for pre-admission NAC. The patent's claims detail out-of-band, peer-based apparatuses and in-memory techniques to track and manipulate address resolution traffic for controlling access and enforcing authentication for unknown devices prior to allowing access to protected devices on a local network segment. It also details methods for quarantining endpoints that fail the authentication checks. This patent is further confirmation that Mirage is the most innovative technology vendor in the Network Access Control market.

Mirage's NAC solution enables maximum network performance by controlling network access, isolating non-compliant and threatening endpoints, and providing self-remediation capabilities. Mirage's network-based solution is the easiest NAC solution to deploy, as it requires no agent software, deploys virtually inline, and works in any network environment.

"Mirage continues to show NAC technology leadership through innovation," said Grant Hartline, chief technical officer for Mirage Networks. "These patents not only differentiate the Mirage solution from other NAC offerings, but are also proof of the genuinely unique way Mirage is helping customers solve real network security problems."

Mirage solutions are made available through Authorized ChannelFirst Partners and can also be delivered as a managed service.
