Greenberg Traurig Expands No. 1 Ranked Las Vegas IP Practice

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Las Vegas, NV -- The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced that Edward Chansky has joined its Las Vegas, NV office in an of counsel capacity in the Intellectual Property and Technology practice. The announcement came on the heels of the firm's Las Vegas IP practice being ranked No. 1, for a second year, by a Las Vegas Business Press survey based on number of attorneys. Chansky moves to Greenberg Traurig from Levett Rockwood P.C. in Connecticut, where he was a shareholder.

Chansky's practice is concentrated in the areas of intellectual property, Internet and trade regulation law, with a focus on charitable sales promotions, sweepstakes, contests and protection of trademarks and copyrights worldwide. Chansky has published numerous articles on intellectual property law and has spoken at national seminars and conferences on topics such as sweepstakes, premium production, cause-related marketing, and coupon and rebate offers.

"We are thrilled to have Ed join our rapidly growing office and further strengthen our IP practice," said Mark Tratos, managing shareholder of the firm's Las Vegas office. "With over 20 years of experience, and in particular, his experience in sweepstakes, Ed brings a wealth of knowledge to our IP team."

The firm has more than 200 full-time IP and technology attorneys, approximately 100 of whom are registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This practice has consistently been ranked 1st for the number of USPTO trademark application filings by CSC Trademark Insider for four consecutive years through 2007; for the number of trademark registrations issued in 2007 in the 2008 Intellectual Property Today annual listing of Top Trademark Firms; and is among those law firms most frequently hired for trademark litigation, according to a 2007 IP Law 360 survey of the 250-plus largest law firms in the United States.

Chansky holds a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Yale University. He is admitted to practice law in Nevada, Connecticut and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

Greenberg Traurig, LLP is an international, full-service law firm with more than 1800 attorneys and governmental affairs professionals in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The firm was selected as the 2007 USA Law Firm of the Year by Chambers and Partners.
