RoadLoK Security Awarded Patent for New Motorcycle Locking System
Wednesday, December 17, 2008
Middletown, NY -- RoadLoK Security (d/b/a of New Hampton Technologies, LLC) announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the issuance of a patent for the company's RoadLoK® branded motorcycle locking system, filed on February 9, 2006; U.S. patent number 7,467,530 will publish December 23, 2008.
The unique powersport locking system, commercially known and available as "RoadLoK", utilizes a specially-engineered, removable hardened stainless steel locking pin to positively immobilize the protected vehicle's wheel. The system is reliant on a lock housing--or lock body--which is unique to the protected vehicle's make, model, and year. The lock body permanently mounts to the vehicle, while the locking pin is removable, thus making this new locking system both failsafe and fool-proof.
The RoadLoK motorcycle locking system features a locking pin removably-affixed within a permanently-mounted lock housing on the vehicle's frame. The operator is protected from vehicular damage and personal injury because all movement is eliminated when the locking system is engaged. Traditional locking methods (i.e. padlocks, "disc locks", and chains) allow the protected vehicle--for example: a motorcycle--to roll up to six feet before stopping the wheel. The Company engineered the new motorcycle locking system to prevent this movement, thus preventing unintentional damage and personal injury.
"It's been a lengthy road to patent issuance, but we are excited about its implications", stated Eric Xavier, Managing Director of RoadLoK Security. "The intellectual property strategy of our company is now coming to fruition. We've several continuations-in-part and more parent applications within the USPTO system (and internationally), as well as many trademarks for our various security system sub-brands--most of which will be licensed to various high-profile powersport component manufacturers worldwide. We rely on these individual manufacturers to produce our locking systems under universally-recognized quality standards supplemented by their respective understanding of their particular segment within the global powersport industry. It's all quite exciting!"
The Company's recently awarded trademark registration on both the brand name "RoadLoK", its stylized logo, and the newly-patented locking technology have been successfully licensed to several manufacturers within the global powersport industry. The RoadLoK brand motorcycle locking system is available via several major powersport accessory distributors in the Harley-Davidson® and metric aftermarket, and is standard, dealer-installed security equipment at select motorcycle dealerships.
RoadLoK Security continually develops new powersport locking systems collaboratively with the industry's most notable manufacturers, engineers and designers. For more information please contact RoadLoK Security's R&D team at (888)-ROADLOK or visit the company's site: www.roadlok.com/license.
