Hamilton Beach and Back to Basics Settle Patent Suit

Richmond, VA -- On August 15, 2005, Back to Basics Products, Inc. filed a lawsuit against Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex, Inc. The Back to Basics lawsuit alleged that certain Hamilton Beach blenders infringed Back to Basics Patent U.S. Patent No. 6,527,433. Hamilton Beach has denied liability.
On November 14, 2006, Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex, Inc. filed a lawsuit alleging certain Back to Basics coffeemakers infringed Hamilton Beach U.S. Patent No. D531,855. Back to Basics has denied liability.
The parties have settled the dispute. Back to Basics has taken a license under the coffeemaker patent. Hamilton Beach has taken a license under the blender patent. The terms of the settlement agreement are confidential.
