Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Philadelphia, PA -- Three attorneys from Volpe and Koenig were recently selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2009. Pennsylvania Super Lawyers also named two others as Pennsylvania "Rising Stars" for 2008.
Tony Volpe and Fred Koenig, both founding partners, along with Randy Huis, a shareholder and Head of the Mechanical Practice Group, were selected BestLawyers. Shareholders, John Donch and Steve Schott were each selected "RisingStars."
Being included in these peer-review surveys is considered to be "a significant professional honor that clients come to expect," according to Jay Halt, president of Volpe and Koenig. "We've been very fortunate over the years to attract and retain some of the best intellectual property experts in the country," Halt said. "We continue to grow because we are very client-focused and we take great pains to mentor our employees and make sure they are given every opportunity to succeed. These distinctions are a fitting recognition of their continued hard work and excellence, and we congratulate them for all of their dedication and commitment," he added.
Volpe, a Doylestown resident and Fred Koenig, also of Doylestown, PA started the firm more than 20 years ago. Today, Volpe and Koenig has more than 120 employees including over 50 attorneys, patent agents, and technical advisors.
Huis, a Media, PA resident, has been with the firm for the past nine years, and oversees all matters relating to clients in the mechanical arts. Donch, who lives in Haddonfield, NJ, is a computer engineer by training and focuses his practice on the electrical arts. Schott, a resident of Jenkintown, PA focuses his practice on the mechanical arts and, along with Donch, donates his time to conducting educational workshops for children attending urban elementary schools.
Since its inception in 1983, Best Lawyers has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence. It is based on peer-review surveys in which more than 25,000 leading attorneys cast almost two million confidential evaluations. The selection of Pennsylvania "Rising Stars" results from a poll of Pennsylvania attorneys conducted by Law and Politics Magazine. Selected attorneys are featured in the December issues of Philadelphia Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine, along with the other recipients. "RisingStars" are nominated by their peers and evaluated by a blue ribbon panel; only 2.5% of the eligible attorneys in Pennsylvania are selected. To qualify, an attorney must be age 40 or younger, or in practice for 10 years or less.
Founded in 1987, Volpe and Koenig, P.C., is dedicated solely to intellectual property law. With its experienced staff of more than 120 people, including 50 patent attorneys, patent agents and technical advisers, the firm provides guidance on matters relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, technology acquisitions, licensing and litigation. Clients range from small business owners to large, multi-national organizations.
