Minneapolis, MN -- Intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould is pleased to announce that it has named Andrew Ehard, Karen Fitzsimmons, Robert Kalinsky, Greg Leibold and Rachel Zimmerman as partners at the firm.

At the firm’s Minneapolis office, Andrew Ehard specializes in trademark law. He represents and counsels significant brand holders in the management of their global trademark portfolios and the selection, clearance and registration of new brands. Ehard also represents clients involved in domestic and foreign trademark oppositions and cancellation proceedings. In 2008 he was named one of the top 50 trademark attorneys in the nation by CSC's Trademark Insider.

Fitzsimmons’s practice includes all phases of developing patent portfolios. On behalf of her clients, she has handled patent appeals, reexaminations and reissue application at the U.S. patent & Trademark Office.

Robert Kalinsky practices general intellectual property law in the Minneapolis office, including both patent prosecution and litigation. The patent prosecution aspect of his practice has a concentration in the electrical and mechanical arts, including an emphasis in software and biomedical device patents. In addition, he provides litigation support in a variety of areas. Kalinsky has particular expertise in preparing and prosecuting software and business method patents. He has helped many clients patent Internet-based and financial innovations.

Her practice has focused on resolving clients' complex patent, trademark, and copyright infringement, unfair competition, and trade secret misappropriation disputes. In her litigation practice, Zimmerman has successfully argued multiple motions in various federal courts throughout the United States, in state court in Minnesota, and in arbitration proceedings. Her experience extends to the handling of all aspects of complex intellectual property litigation, from the investigation and preparation of complaints through trial, post-trial, and appeal, as well as every stage in between.
