Marshall, Gerstein & Borun Adds Three Associates

Chicago, IL -- Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, an intellectual property law firm, adds Gina Bicknell, Michael Coyne and Alex Fishkin as associates.

Prior to joining the firm, Gina Bicknell was a patent agent with Baxter Healthcare Corporation, where she managed a large patent portfolio and drafted and negotiated numerous intellectual property-based agreements. Bicknell was also a licensing coordinator at UCTech, the technology transfer office for the University of Chicago, and a technology transfer executive at University College London Ventures in the United Kingdom. Bicknell received her J.D., with honors, from Chicago-Kent College of Law (2008), her B.Sc. in biological sciences, with honors, from Birkbeck College, University of London (2001) and her B.A., with honors, in English language and Literature from the University of Chicago (1997). She is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Coyne focuses on patent prosecution in the mechanical engineering disciplines. He previously served as a project engineer at Kolcraft Enterprises and Fellowes, Inc. Coyne was also a design engineer at Grayhill, Inc., developing and modifying circuit board-mounted electrical components and related testing and production equipment. Coyne received his J.D. from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law (2008), where he was an associate editor of the Loyola University Chicago International Law Review. While a law student, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Michael T. Mason, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Illinois. Coyne received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago (1998). He is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to entering law school, Fishkin worked as a technology specialist at a global law firm, where he helped large high-tech companies, small businesses and individual inventors protect their intellectual property. Fishkin also he held various engineering positions with Teradyne, Motorola, Pittway Corporation (now Honeywell International) and Pepsi Americas.

Fishkin received his J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law (2008) and his M.B.A. from Kellogg Graduate School of Business (2008). While attending law school, he worked at the Technology Transfer Office, assisting the university in commercializing its research in sciences and engineering. He received his M.S. in electrical engineering and a M.A. in Slavic languages and literatures from Stanford University (2004) and his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1999). He is fluent in Russian and French and proficient in Spanish. He is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois.
