Wi-LAN Adds Seasoned Technology Licensing Executive

Ottawa, Canada -- Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX: WIN) ("Wi-LAN" or the "Company"), a leading technology innovation and licensing company, today announced that it has hired seasoned technology licensing executive, Donald Boles, to the newly created position of Vice President, Program Development.
As Vice President, Program Development, Mr. Boles will be instrumental in driving the growth of Wi-LAN's business by leading the development of new patent licensing programs. His responsibilities will include coordinating the sourcing, analysis and acquisition of patent portfolios, directing the development of new license programs based on Wi-LAN's current portfolio, and establishing teams to successfully execute all new licensing programs.

Mr. Boles has more than 25 years experience in technology licensing, patent law and business law. For twelve years commencing in 1997, Mr. Boles was a key member of the InterDigital management and licensing team where he held senior positions including Chief Patent Strategist and Vice-President, Intellectual Property. Prior to InterDigital, Mr. Boles served in increasingly senior positions at Westinghouse Electric, AMP Incorporated, IBM and Seimens Corporation.

Mr. Boles has an electrical engineering degree and is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
Mr. Boles is expected to assume his duties at Wi-LAN on June 15, 2009.
