Enterprise Storage Software Leader Receives United States Patent for Transmitting Meta Data on Backup Environments

Campbell, CA -- Enterprise storage resource management leader, APTARE, Inc., today announced it has been granted and issued a United States patent relating to a system for the efficient transmission of large amounts of backup/recovery meta data, along with the ability to store this data.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted APTARE Patent Number 7,558,927, titled "System to capture, transmit and persist backup and recovery meta data." This patent -- the first for the company and industry -- is particularly applicable to Internet and web-based computing where data pertaining to multiple mission-critical backup events can be sent over the Internet or corporate networks to a single common portal where it is stored, summarized and presented through a web-based graphical user interface.

"We are delighted that APTARE's intellectual property and market leading innovations have been recognized with a U.S. patent," said Richard Clark, President and CEO of APTARE. "Our customers benefit from our technology innovation and revolutionary inventions through network efficiencies along with the ability to easily install and scale our StorageConsole® unified storage management platform. We are continuing this innovation in new and exciting areas."

Using APTARE software, users are able to report, monitor and manage enterprise storage resources in backup, capacity management, data replication and virtualized server environments. Core to the innovation covered in this patent is the ability to extend its use to other areas of storage monitoring and reporting using a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.

"Working with web architecture is critical in today's complex enterprise storage environments. Hosting applications built on traditional server-based architecture can be very cumbersome and requires quite a bit of processing and central server access," said analyst Bob Laliberte at Enterprise Strategy Group. "APTARE understands the need to efficiently obtain information about storage environments and present that information to its customers in a relevant way."
