Continues Strategic Expansion of West Coast Office

Los Angeles, CA -- Dickstein Shapiro is pleased to announce the expansion of its Los Angeles office with the addition of intellectual property partners Lawrence R. LaPorte, David A. Randall, and Michael A. Tomasulo. The addition of this team continues the development of the firm’s 80-plus attorney Intellectual Property Practice nationwide and continues the strategic expansion of the firm’s West Coast office. The Intellectual Property Practice in Los Angeles focuses its work on representing clients in all aspects of intellectual property litigation, asset management, opinions and prosecution, as well as licensing and counseling. This team represents clients across a spectrum of various technologies in industries including high-technology, entertainment, and video gaming.

Mr. LaPorte has practiced law for more than 20 years and most recently was a partner in the intellectual property litigation practice of Jones Day. He is a successful litigator, and his experience includes patent, trademark, trade secret, antitrust, unfair competition, and contract cases for a wide variety of high-technology companies. Mr. LaPorte received his J.D. and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Mr. Randall represents clients in a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, and trade secret disputes, and routinely advises on the development and management of worldwide patent and trademark portfolios, as well as product design and the procurement of product configuration trademarks. He joins Dickstein Shapiro from Jones Day, where he was head of the Los Angeles intellectual property prosecution practice. Mr. Randall received his J.D. from Arizona State University and his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Arizona.

Mr. Tomasulo is a first chair intellectual property litigator whose work focuses on sophisticated technology matters. He has been lead counsel or co-lead counsel in patent, trade secret, copyright, and trademark litigation, as well as in cases involving breach of contract. He also is a court-appointed attorney settlement officer for the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Tomasulo received his J.D. from the University of Southern California and his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
