Groundbreaking Patent Covers Cloud-based Content Storage and Sync Between Any Consumer Device; Adds to FusionOne’s Extensive Intellectual Property Portfolio

San Jose, CA -- FusionOne, the leading provider of mobile content portability solutions, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted the company a new patent for its development in content synchronization and storage technology. Patent No. 7,587,446, titled "Acquisition and Synchronization of Digital Media to a Personal Information Space," was granted on September 10, 2009.

This revolutionary patent is for the storage, transfer and synchronization of a user’s personal media, such as pictures, video and music, to an online storage space (commonly known as "the cloud"). This stored media can then be synced to any device with data storage and online capabilities. Examples of potential devices include mobile phones, PCs, home-based media centers, VOIP phones and automotive entertainment consoles. The patent incorporates all major features essential to a content portability and storage solution, including the transfer and multi-service sync process itself, cloud storage of the content, and an interface for managing content and changes.

"FusionOne has pioneered the development of products that sync content between devices," said Scott Sutherland, Managing Director, Wedbush Securities. "This patent extends this multi-sync technology to the cloud and provides the basis for an ‘iTunes®-like service in the cloud’ for consumers."

"FusionOne is pleased to have been awarded this groundbreaking patent," said Mike Mulica, chief executive officer, FusionOne. "The technology covered by this patent is a giant step toward our ultimate vision of making a consumer’s content accessible across all their devices using cloud services."

This new patent further adds to FusionOne’s intellectual property portfolio of more than 60 issued and pending patents related to mobile content transfer technology.
