Monday, October 12, 2009
Los Gatos, CA -- The U.S. Office of Patents has awarded four new patents to Audible Magic, Inc., the de facto leader in audio and video content identification for compliance, anti-piracy, and monetization services.
Patents US 7,500,007; US 7,529,659; US 7,562,012 and US 7,565,327 recognize and protect several inventions used in Audible Magic's unique approach to content identification, which enable the creation and detection of audio and video signatures, infraction-response communications and monetization services.
According to Vance Ikezoye, founder and CEO, "The new patents expand Audible Magic's intellectual property portfolio and underscore our world-class technology team. As a team, we are committed to providing cutting-edge, innovative solutions designed to identify digital media -- regardless of whether unauthorized transmissions take place on a user's personal computer or some other device such as a game player or smart phone," said Ikezoye. "Our products also help copyright owners, website owners and network operators generate income from their content."
One place Audible Magic uses Patent US 7,500,007 is in the services and products that support content identification on media playing devices such as smart phones, browser-based players, consumer electronics, and other types of media players.
The newly patented technology supports customer monetization services, enabling web-based businesses to validate copyright compliance, offer enhanced user services and target the delivery of content-based advertising.
Patent US 7,565,327 protects the technology that is the underpinning of Audible Magic's infraction-response system, available with its CopySense network appliance. This unique invention helps colleges, universities, and other Internet service providers (ISPs) build better digital citizens by automatically and immediately communicating anti-piracy education and action items to users in response to the unauthorized transmissions of copyrighted materials.
Patents US 7,562,012 and US 7,529,659 describe the methodology and apparatus for detecting audio and video content based on the real-time creation of unique signatures and the comparison of those signatures against other known ones in Audible Magic's database.
