Wendy Choi Joins Firm’s Atlanta Office

Atlanta, GA -- Kilpatrick Stockton announced today the addition of partner Wendy Choi to its Intellectual Property Department. Ms. Choi is joining Kilpatrick Stockton’s Atlanta office from Woodcock Washburn where she served as the firm’s Atlanta office managing partner since 2005.

"Wendy is an exciting addition to our nationally-recognized patent prosecution team," said John Pratt, Chair of Kilpatrick Stockton’s Intellectual Property Department. "Combined with her academic background in chemistry and extensive industry experience, Wendy's command of the patent process in the chemical and bio-tech industries is rare and will be valuable to our clients. We are thrilled that Wendy is joining us and look forward eagerly to working with Wendy and introducing her to our clients."

Ms. Choi’s practice primarily focuses on patent prosecution for clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries ranging from start-ups to large corporations in both domestic and international patent matters. She handles complex US and foreign patent prosecution, including appellate practice, interferences, reexaminations, reissues, and foreign opposition practice. Ms. Choi counsels clients on patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions, inventorship determinations, employee issues, and trade secret protection. She also assists clients in strategic management of IP portfolios and their alignment with business goals along with leading extensive due diligence for IP transactions, licensing and litigation support.

Prior to joining Woodcock Washburn, Ms. Choi spent more than a decade working on complex patent matters for firms in the chemical, biotechnology and mechanical industries, including Union Camp Company, Hewlett Packard, and Rohm and Haas Company.

Ms. Choi is active in the civic and legal communities. She is a Board of Advisor Member for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce; a Board Member of Atlanta Bar Association IP Section; a member of the IPO Committee of Patent Law and Practice (International); and a member of the AIPLA International & Foreign Law Committee and IP Practice in Europe Committee. Ms. Choi has been a featured presenter at Law Seminars International Advanced Prosecution and Litigation Seminar and is a faculty member and annual speaker at PLI Patent Boot Camp. She also serves as a mentor to Emory Law School students and John Marshall Law School students.

Ms. Choi earned her J.D. from Temple University School of Law, cum laude and her B.S. at Chestnut Hill College in Chemistry, summa cum laude.
