Karen B. Dow Joins Sughrue Mion’s San Diego Office

Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Expert Expands Global Intellectual Property Firm's West Coast Presence
Washington, DC & San Diego, CA -- The intellectual property law firm of Sughrue Mion, PLLC, announced today that Karen B. Dow has joined the firm as a partner in its San Diego, Calif., office. Ms. Dow has more than 20 years of patent experience in biotechnology and pharmaceutical issues including work as patent counsel for Eli Lilly and Company and Triton Biosciences.

Ms. Dow's experience includes representing patent holders in an array of technologies including stem cells, recombinant technology, immunology (immunoassays), molecular biology, microbiology, and organic chemistry. In addition to handling complex litigation matters she has extensive experience in negotiating technology transfer contracts, licenses, research agreements, and settlement agreements for domestic and international clients.
Ms. Dow comes to Sughrue from the San Diego office of DLA Piper. She was previously a partner for 15 years with Townsend and Townsend and Crew where she resided in the Palo Alto office and served as Partner-In-Charge of the San Diego office.
She earned her bachelor's degree in Biology from Bowling Green State University and her J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law. She is a member of the bars of the state of California and the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO).
As an active participant in the legal and business communities, Ms. Dow is a member of the Policy Committee for CONNECT, one of the nation's most successful regional economic development programs for high-technology and life science inventors and entrepreneurs and is a member of the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Licensing Executive Society.
