Attorney Matthew C. Cox Joins Waddey & Patterson

Nashville, TN – Attorney Matthew C. Cox has joined the law firm of Waddey & Patterson, P.C., as an Associate announced Jack Waddey, co-founder of the firm. Cox will practice in the areas of patent prosecution and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the areas of patent, copyright, and trademark law.
"We are pleased to welcome Matthew to the firm," said Waddey. "He has an excellent background academically from his work at Vanderbilt and through law school. His mechanical engineering background will be most helpful to many of our clients."
Cox received his Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law. As a law student, he gained intellectual property litigation experience while clerking at the United States International Trade Commission’s Office of Unfair Import Investigations. He also attended the summer International Intellectual Property Law Program of George Washington University hosted by the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany. He was recently admitted to the Tennessee Bar.
Cox earned both a B.E. and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. His technical background includes experimental research in materials processing. As a graduate student, he gained experience with gas turbine engine technology and worked as both a graduate research assistant and a teaching assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt.
Matthew Cox is a member of the Nashville Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Cox is a resident of Green Hills.
