Spokane, WA -- Lee & Hayes, pllc, announced today the creation of a Corporate Practice Group in its Spokane office and the addition of George Nethercutt, Jr., the second former U.S. congressman to join the globally known intellectual property firm headquartered in Spokane, Wash.

Veteran attorney Terry Kelly will lead the Corporate Practice Group. Nethercutt, who served in Congress for 10 years, will focus extensively on energy and life science related clients and issues as an of counsel Corporate Practice Group member. Rick White, a former congressman and CEO of Technet, also serves as a firm advisor in its Seattle office.

"The addition of a Corporate Practice Group fits into our vision of developing a world-class, global, technology-focused law firm headquartered in Spokane," said Lewis Lee, who co-founded the firm with Dan Hayes in 1994. "We feel it’s the right investment to make for our clients so that we can offer them a complete package of IP counseling, transaction, tax and corporate services."

Attorneys Michael Agostinelli, Jeffrey Smith and Daniel Wadkins have also joined the Corporate Practice Group. In addition, Guowei "David" Sun, who is licensed to practice law in both the U.S. and China and has an LLM in International Taxation from NYU, has joined the Corporate Practice Group.

The expansion into the domestic and international corporate and tax practice areas will enable Lee & Hayes to provide a wide range of intellectual property, transactional, corporate and tax counseling legal services to emerging technology clients.

"George’s extensive experience and knowledge of the issues associated with the energy field from his many years in Congress makes him the perfect resource for many of the new energy and life science ventures developing throughout the United States," Lee said. "His addition to our Corporate Practice Group provides a valuable resource to emerging energy clients trying to negotiate the multitude of governmental issues."

The firm employs more than 45 attorneys and patent agents in its offices in Spokane, Austin and Seattle. Its services have grown beyond core patent capabilities to include technology transactions and licensing, portfolio counseling, and IP analytical and counseling services and now general corporate and tax transactions.

Lee & Hayes specializes in the development and commercialization of IP portfolios for large multinational corporations. The firm has received national industry recognition, including a top ranking for quality computer and software patents from American Lawyer magazine.
