Thursday, December 10, 2009
Washington, D.C. – Nevrivy Patent Law Group, a life science-focused intellectual property boutique law firm based in Washington, D.C., is pleased to announce that Kelli Watson Francuzenko has joined the firm as Of Counsel.
Ms. Francuzenko comes to the firm with more than 10 years experience in preparing and negotiating intellectual property transactions in the life science industry. Francuzenko's practice focuses on licensing, research and development agreements, grants and contracts in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals and in the development of IP policy and procedure to protect and manage innovation.
"Protecting, managing and leveraging intellectual property involves several aspects including application preparation and prosecution, due diligence and other investigations already being offered by the Nevrivy Patent Law Group, as well as strategic procedures and policy, contractual arrangements and enforcement. I am excited to be adding a transactional dimension to the capabilities of Nevrivy Patent Law Group and expanding the scope of client services offered," says Francuzenko.
She holds a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, a M.S. in biotechnology from Georgetown University and a B.S. in biology from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame. Before coming to the Nevrivy Patent Law Group, Francuzenko was a Partner at McDermott, Will & Emery LLP in the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology department of the Washington, D.C. office. Before joining McDermott as an associate, Francuzenko was the Assistant Director of the Research and Technology Development Services office of Georgetown University where she managed the patent portfolio and negotiated commercialization agreements.
"Kelli is an outstanding IP attorney and brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will broaden and enhance our firm’s capabilities and I am delighted that she has joined our group. In the current environment, many organizations are looking to partner, be acquired, or license some of their IP to raise capital to support their development, while well capitalized institutions are augmenting their existing R&D and expanding their pipeline at very attractive prices," says Daniel Nevrivy, Ph.D., the firm’s Managing Director. "Kelli’s background in technology transfer and her transactional and agreements expertise will add significant value for our clients and help position the law firm for further growth," according to Dr. Nevrivy.
