Sidley Austin LLP Elevates IP Lawyer to Partnership in Dallas, 15 throughout Firm

Law Firm Announces New Partner in Dallas Office’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice

Dallas, TX -- Michael D. Hatcher in the Dallas office of Sidley Austin LLP is among the 15 lawyers elevated to partnership in the firm. Effective January 1, 2010, the firm has 640 partners in offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. Michael D. Hatcher is a new partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice.

"Michael is a talented lawyer and a key member of the Intellectual Property Litigation practice," added James P. Bradley, head of Sidley’s Dallas office. "We are pleased to congratulate him on this accomplishment."

Michael D. Hatcher, 38, focuses his practice on patent litigation with an emphasis on cases in the Eastern District of Texas and on Hatch-Waxman drug patent litigation. Representative technologies at issue in the cases included semiconductors, contact lenses, pharmaceuticals, biologics, power converters, food products, oil field equipment, medical devices and diapers. Mr. Hatcher is also involved in litigation and counseling regarding trademark, domain name dispute, copyright, and trade secret law, including a trademark/domain name dispute case resolved on the fast-track in the Eastern District of Virginia. Prior to joining Sidley, Mr. Hatcher clerked for Chief Judge Edmondson on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta.

Mr. Hatcher, formerly an associate, received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Physics from the University of Miami.
