Network Service Zone Locking Technology in StealthWatch Enforces Network Policies, Enhances Security and Improves Network Health
Atlanta, GA -- Lancope®, Inc., the provider of the StealthWatch® System, the Best in NetFlow™ Analysis and the leader in flow-based network performance and security monitoring for unified visibility across physical and virtual networks, today announced a fourth newly issued U.S. Patent No. 7,644,151 for its Network Service Zone Locking technology. The new patent confirms Lancope's market leadership of flow-based technologies and recognizes the ground-breaking invention of flow-based monitoring of service ports by zones to enforce network policies, enhance network security and improve overall network health.
This new patent strengthens StealthWatch's accuracy and reliability in detecting unauthorized network usage. Specifically, Network Service Zone Locking provides a means of monitoring and alerting on policy violations at the application service level between a client and a server without requiring a network device between the two hosts. By grouping internal hosts inside the firewall into zones and monitoring communications among zones, StealthWatch can determine unauthorized communications and notify administrators to take appropriate action. This innovative technology provides fine-grained control over the network policy, providing enhanced protection for servers containing high-value critical information. Furthermore, this technique enables network performance and security monitoring at much higher speeds and accuracy than currently available.
"Our fourth U.S. patent reinforces our leadership in NetFlow collection and analysis, and reflects our continued commitment to pioneering more accurate and scalable methods for real-time network performance and security monitoring," said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. "Unauthorized network usage can lead to network congestion, system failures or loss of vital confidential information. Using flow telemetry to continuously monitor physical and virtual networks, StealthWatch provides complete network visibility, graphically displays network activity and alarms on anomalous behaviors, which are extremely valuable to network administrators responsible for what is transpiring over the network."
Previously Lancope was granted the following U.S. patents:
- Flow-based detection of network intrusions
- Packet sampling flow-based detection of network intrusions
- Network port profiling
StealthWatch is the first and only flow-based solution to unify network performance and security monitoring to gain end-to-end visibility across physical and virtual networks. Unlike traditional monitoring technologies that require extensive deployments, StealthWatch's patented flow-based approach leverages flow telemetry from routers and switches to deliver cost-effective network visibility, improve security postures and optimize network performance. StealthWatch enables security and network operations teams to remediate incidents within minutes, reducing the overall costs of managing and protecting networks. A proven solution, StealthWatch now protects over 45 million hosts across hundreds of enterprise and government organizations worldwide.
