Streaming Media Settlement Patent Granted to Single Touch Interactive
Wednesday, March 24, 2010
San Diego, CA -- Single Touch Interactive (OTCBB: SITO) has been granted another US Streaming Media Settlement Patent, adding to its already extensive patent portfolio.
Today more than ever before, television networks and advertisers are focusing on delivery of streaming media to mobile telephones. Over the last few years, more and more companies have emerged, both new entrants to the space and startups, that are seeking to exploit this potential utilizing makeshift platforms or unpatented systems or technology.
Single Touch's US patent (number 7,689,706) relates to settlement of media streamed to devices such as mobile telephone or set top boxes. For example, the term "streaming session" means the transmission of media over a packet based network to a viewer or to another communication device. A streaming session can carry media to a set top box for display on one or more televisions, to a media player associated with a web browser, or a media player for a mobile telephone.
Streaming media and advertisements delivered to devices and particularly mobile telephones is the focal point of our media-world as consumers are viewing their mobile telephone as a mini computer. While this occurs, there is a need for processes to manage the settlement of the requested media. "The patents that Single Touch holds for this required management are at the industry forefront," said Anthony Macaluso, CEO of Single Touch Systems. "We see a large opportunity for licensing this IP to help the industry manage streaming media services." Single Touch holds 11 US Patents with more than 30 US Patents pending including Streaming Media patents 7,054,949 and 7,191,244, as well as the just granted US patent 7,689,706.
