Monday, March 29, 2010

Aliaswire’s innovation and leadership in mobile payment and mobile commerce are confirmed by allowance of U.S. patent

Cambridge, MA -- Aliaswire Inc., a leading provider of P2P, mobile, web, and voice-based payment solutions, has received a Notification of Allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its patent titled “Secure Authentication and Payment System.” The company holds counterpart issued patents in China, India, Australia, Singapore and South Africa.

With a priority date of July 2001, the patent has more than 40 claims covering a broad range of payment transactions such as P2P mobile payments, mobile funds transfers, and purchases that take place over wireless devices. The patent claims encompass Aliaswire’s comprehensive process for initiating payments through various mobile interfaces, including mobile applications that reside on a device connected to a telephone network; SMS text messages; or voice commands. In all cases, payment routing is completed in a payment network which may include ACH, EFT or credit card.

The company expects the patent to be issued within the next 60 days, and has filed two additional divisional patents on January 11, 2010, with a priority date of July 2001.

"The market for mobile P2P and mobile payments is poised to explode in the next few years and we are very pleased with the addition of this U.S. patent to our growing portfolio of intellectual property.” said Hoss Mohsenzadeh, CEO of Aliaswire. “This patent strengthens our competitive position and offers protection to Aliaswire’s clients and partners.”

“Aliaswire has been very innovative in the market with its secure mobile payments and commerce,” said Menekse Gencer, president of mPay Connect Consulting. “This latest patent positions Aliaswire well in the mobile payments market.”

“Aliaswire has been a pioneer of mobile commerce, demonstrating the value of many different interfaces to bring convenience to consumers and financial returns for issuers and merchants,” said Patrick Gauthier, managing partner at emerging payments, mobile and e-commerce consultancy SMC Advisors LLC. “I am impressed by their continued commitment to innovation in that space.”
