Idaho Technology Exclusive Licensee of Patent Covering Majority of Real-Time PCR Instruments on Market

Salt Lake City, UT -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted U.S. Patent No. 7,670,832, reaching claims that apply to most of the real-time PCR instruments on the market. Idaho Technology, Inc. is the exclusive licensee of this patent. This most recent patent to issue in the company’s growing portfolio relates to methods of performing nucleic acid analysis in the presence of a fluorescent dye.

The patent broadly covers devices for performing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) followed by melt curve analysis using fluorescent dyes, including melt curve analysis using dsDNA binding dyes such as SYBR Green or probes labeled with a fluorescent dye.

Idaho Technology has licensed or is in the process of licensing this patent to a number of major PCR instrument manufacturers.
