Fish & Richardson Names 13 New Principals to Litigation, Patent, and Trademark & Copyright Groups

Boston, MA – Fish & Richardson today announced that 13 attorneys have been elevated to principal in the Litigation, Patent, and Trademark & Copyright Groups across the firm’s 11 offices, effective January 1, 2010.

The new principals include Carl E. Bruce (Dallas), Robert C. Earle (Dallas), Kevin E. Greene (Washington, D.C.), Sean J. Grygiel (New York), Michael Headley (Silicon Valley), Irene E. Hudson (New York), David E.A. Jordan (Washington, D.C.), John R. Lane (Houston), Douglas E. McCann (Delaware), Brian Wacter (Southern California), William R. Woodford (Twin Cities), Jennifer Zanocco (Silicon Valley), and Dr. Jan Zecher (Munich).

As a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, Mr. Bruce will continue to focus his practice on all areas of intellectual property law with particular emphasis in the fields of chemicals, manufacturing, electrical/computer technology, semiconductors, energy, and software. He received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2002, his M.S. in chemical engineering in 1999 from the University of Washington, and his B.S. in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1997.

As a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, Mr. Earle will continue to focus his practice on technologies such as banking systems, database translation, computer architecture, digital signal processing, and other related electrical engineering fields. He received his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 1997, where he was valedictorian. He received his M.S., Eta Kappa Nu, in electrical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1991 and his B.S. from the United States Naval Academy in 1985.

As a principal in the firm’s Patent Group, Mr. Greene will continue to focus his practice on patent prosecution in the areas of electrical engineering and physics. He received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2004, a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1998, and a B.A. degree in physics from Slippery Rock University, also in 1998.

As a principal in the firm’s Patent Group, Mr. Grygiel will continue to focus his practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the medical device, mechanical engineering, and mobile telecommunication industries. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2001 and his B.S. in naval architecture and marine engineering from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1994.

As a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, Mr. Headley will continue to focus his practice in the fields of software, semiconductors, electrical/computer technology, and telecommunications. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2002 and his B.A. from Stanford University in 1998.

As a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, Ms. Hudson will continue to focus her practice in the fields of chemicals, biotech/pharma, and software. She received her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 2002 and her B.S. in pharmacy from St. John’s University in 1999.

As a principal in the firm’s Patent Group, Mr. Jordan will continue to focus his practice on patent opinions, due diligence, portfolio development, and patent prosecution in the fields of computer hardware and software, electrical engineering, and business methods. He received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2002 and his B.S. in computer science from the United States Naval Academy in 1996.

As a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, Mr. Lane will continue to focus his practice on a wide variety of technology areas including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, software, hardware, consumer electronics, computer telephony, and business methods. He received his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 2002, and two B.S. degrees, in chemical engineering, cum laude, in 1994, and in biology in 1989, from Auburn University.

As a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, Mr. McCann will continue to focus his practice on patent litigation and intellectual property litigation. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1999 and his B.S. from the United States Naval Academy in 1989.

As a principal in the firm’s Patent Group, Mr. Wacter will continue to focus his practice on computing, communications, and electrical engineering. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2002, his M.S. in computer information systems from Saint Mary’s University in 1997, and his B.S. in computer science from the University of Miami in 1990.

As a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, Mr. Woodford will continue to focus his practice on complex patent litigation in the areas of computer hardware and software, electronics, medical devices, mechanical systems, and biotechnology. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2002 and his B.S., cum laude, in electrical engineering from Marquette University in 1998.

As a principal in the firm’s Patent Group, Ms. Zanocco will continue to focus her practice on patent prosecution in the fields of chemistry, mechanical arts, and computer software. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2002 and her B.S. in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1995.

As a principal in the firm’s Trademark & Copyright Group, Dr. Zecher will continue to focus his practice on trademark, domain name, design patent, and advertising matters. He received his J.D. from Ludwig Maximilians University School of Law in 1999 and his Ph.D., summa cum laude, from Albert Ludwigs University School of Law in 2004.
