Company Solidifies Its Intellectual Property Portfolio with Official Patent Office Notice

Scottsdale, AZ -- Health Enhancement Products, Inc. (OTCBB: HEPI) was given a “Notice of Allowance” by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, after which a formal notice of patent issuance will follow. Once issued the patent will provide intellectual property protection for the Company’s proprietary algae extract, specifically as it applies to addressing a wide range of conditions and illnesses.

“This is a critical milestone for our Company as we build a solid body of nutritional science that will allow us to enter the food ingredient and nutraceutical industry with new credible and effective natural products,” says John Gorman, HEPI’s Director and board member. “We will be providing more detail at the June 8 press event in New York City at the New York Athletic Club.”

“The algae extract is shown to be effective when taken orally administered in liquid form and is stable, not easily degraded and maintains bioactivity in air as well as at room temperature,” notes HEPI Chief Scientific Officer, Denis Callewaert, PhD. “These are unique and ideal characteristics for a successful food ingredient.”

HEPI will host a scientific panel in New York at noon on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the New York Athletic Club with Dr. Smiti Gupta, assistant professor of nutrition and food sciences at Wayne State University and principal investigator of the cholesterol study. Other scientists presenting will include Dr. Fazlul Sarkar, Dr. Denis Callewaert, and Dr. Donald Armstrong.
