FreeLinc Announces Addition to U.S. Patent Portfolio in the Near Field Communication (NFC) Space With the Issuance of Patent No. 7,532,901

Thursday, June 03, 2010

Orem, UT -- FreeLinc, the world leader in secure Near Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) wireless technology, is excited to announce the issuance of Patent No. 7,532,901.

FreeLinc's patent provides a wireless system capable of detecting a Near Field enabled device's location and orientation relative to another Near Field enabled device. This detection is accomplished by exploiting the fundamental angular displacement properties of Near Field Magnetic Induction.

This technology can be used to enhance the capabilities of next generation NFC systems by allowing such devices to sense and interact with user's response through motion and location detection. This has exciting application opportunities in the exploding area of NFC enabled devices. Possible applications for this technology include:

  • Wireless Video Game Controllers
  • Secure NFC Transactions
  • Home and business security access control
  • Point of Sale (POS)
  • Customer behavior monitoring and tracking allowing for a system to detect and interact with users by sensing their presence and behavior patterns.

As the demand for Near Field Communication networks increase, due to the need for secure, localized communication systems, FreeLinc's capabilities utilizing NFMI patented technology will continue to have enormous worldwide demand. NFC secure Personal Area Networks have broad use in military applications, public safety communications, consumer products and the cellular telephone industry.

"The capabilities this Patent provides FreeLinc will add significant value to our NFC solutions," stated Randy Bailey, FreeLinc Chairman and President. "The ability to use NFC for 'orientation' has broad applications in developing NFC markets."

FreeLinc is a world leader in the implementation of Near Field Magnetic Induction technology and has developed products for use in the military, public safety and commercial markets. For more information on FreeLinc's products and technology, visit our website at www.freelinc.com.
