Avery Dennison Continues Office Products Innovation Leadership With Patent Awarded for Easy Peel Feature

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Brea, CA -- As it celebrates its 75th anniversary, Avery Dennison has been awarded a patent related to the Avery® Easy Peel® label sheet construction. The latest in a long line of patented innovations, the Easy Peel feature is currently found on a number of Avery-brand address label products, such as Avery 5160® and Avery 8160™ (Avery Easy Peel Address Labels).

"The Easy Peel patent is another testament to Avery Dennison's unwavering commitment to making our consumers' lives easier," said Todd Thompson, vice president, Marketing and R&D worldwide, Avery Dennison Office Products. "Labels have come a long way since our founder Stan Avery developed the world's first self-adhesive labels, because we are relentless in our dedication to providing innovative and meaningful solutions that meet consumers' needs."

The patented Easy Peel label sheet leaves the edges of the labels exposed for peeling. Avery Easy Peel Address labels with the Pop-up Edge™ allow consumers to simply bend the sheet, which makes the edges of the labels "pop up" and allows them to be easily removed from the sheet. This is the latest in a growing list of industry innovations that have been developed byAvery Dennison to provide creative office solutions, including:

  • Clean Edge® Business Cards – a patented feature that allows for the easy separation of a business card by snap-breaking it cleanly from the sheet, resulting in smooth edges and professional-looking cards printed directly from a desktop computer.
  • Easy Apply™ Label – a patented and patent-pending feature that allows consumers to save time by labeling an entire set of Index Maker® Dividers at once with perfect alignment.
  • TrueBlock® Technology – a patent-pending innovative feature used on Avery shipping and file folder labels, which allows consumers to re-use file folders and boxes by completely blocking out previous labels or writing. By using a new Avery label with TrueBlock technology, old information underneath does not show through.
