Thursday, July 01, 2010

Los Angeles, CA -- Continuing the expansion of its California intellectual property practice, Alston & Bird LLP (www.alston.com) has added Marsha Mullin, previously of Jones Day, as counsel. Mullin joins David Ben-Meir and Rachel Capoccia as the most recent additions to Alston & Bird’s more than 200 member IP group, among the largest and most highly regarded in the nation.

“We continue our focus on expanding our IP practice throughout California to reflect our clients' growing demand for IP services,” said Thomas Wingard, partner-in-charge of Alston & Bird’s Los Angeles office. "We are thrilled to have someone of Marsha’s caliber round out our current practices. Her impressive background, particularly within the entertainment and technology industries, further enhances our competitive edge in patent and intellectual property litigation.”

Mullin primarily focuses her practice on patent infringement actions involving a wide variety of technologies, including communications satellites, digital direct broadcast satellite television, microchip fabrication and circuitry and loudspeaker systems. She has previously represented companies such as DIRECTV, Hughes Aircraft Company, Hughes Space and Communications Company, JBL, Motorola and United States Satellite Broadcasting Company. Additionally, Mullin has represented composers, authors and producers in intellectual property disputes in the motion picture and television industries, including composer John Williams, political satirist Art Buchwald and television producer Lester Persky.

Mullin received her J.D. from the University of California and her B.S. from the University of California, Riverside. She is the treasurer of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association and a past member of the board of trustees of the Los Angeles Copyright Society.
