IP Litigator Katrina Quicker Joins Ballard Spahr’s Atlanta Office

Monday, August 16, 2010

Atlanta, GA -- Katrina M. Quicker, an accomplished intellectual property attorney, has joined Ballard Spahr as a partner in the Atlanta office, firm Chair Arthur Makadon announced.

Ms. Quicker’s practice encompasses patent infringement, trademark and trade dress, copyright, and trade secrets and non-compete litigation. She represents clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, and other industries in actions in federal and state courts, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

“Katrina is a sensational addition to our IP litigation practice nationwide, to the Atlanta office, and to the firm,” Mr. Makadon said. “We feel very fortunate to attract an attorney of Katrina’s quality and are delighted to have her as a partner.”

A registered patent attorney, Ms. Quicker also has counseled clients on intellectual property issues, including licensing and trademark and copyright prosecutions. She joins Ballard Spahr from King & Spalding, where she was a partner in the firm’s Atlanta office.

“Katrina has represented clients in the life sciences, technology, and software industries, among others, and in many different courts, including the ITC. Her range will make her a valuable asset to the IP practice,” said William H. Needle, Chair of the Intellectual Property Department. “We really look forward to working with her.”

Ms. Quicker recently served as a special assistant attorney general for the State of Georgia for intellectual property matters. She is admitted to practice in Georgia and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law and Indiana University.

“I am excited to be joining Ballard Spahr,” Ms. Quicker said. “In recent years, the firm has made a significant commitment to expanding its intellectual property practice nationally. I hope to contribute to that growth.”
