Five Attorneys Join Firm’s Leading Intellectual Asset Acquisition & Transactions Team
Washington, DC -- Kilpatrick Stockton announced today the addition of partner Michael Verga, counsel Charles Chesney, and associates Joshua Puvak, Martin Cosenza and Mark Kupets to the firm’s leading Intellectual Asset Acquisition & Transactions Team in the Intellectual Property Department. They are joining Kilpatrick Stockton’s growing Washington, DC office from Connolly, Bove, Lodge & Hutz.

Michael G. Verga represents clients in the strategic development and enforcement of intellectual property portfolios including patent drafting and prosecution, reexamination counseling, due diligence and licensing in the electrical, software, computer and medical device fields. Mr. Verga has significant experience in procuring both domestic and foreign patents in the fields of telecommunications, control system, data processing, graphical user interfaces, image and signal processing, networking, data communications, integrated circuits, computer architecture, digital and analog circuits, semiconductor fabrication, optics, medical devices, and all levels of software. He earned his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, his Masters of Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston, and his Bachelors of Engineering from Hofstra University.
Charles Chesney represents clients in variety of intellectual property matters including patent prosecution, patent litigation, patent counseling and opinions, and trade secrets in the electrical and medical devices arts. Mr. Chesney has significant experience in practicing intellectual property law in the fields of wireless communications (including CDMA and OFDMA systems), data processing, graphical user interfaces, image and signal processing, networking, data communications, integrated circuits, computer architecture, digital and analog circuits, optics, medical devices, and all levels of software. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, his M.S.E.E. from George Washington University, and his B.S.E.E from The Pennsylvania State University.
Joshua A. Puvak represents clients in a variety of areas including domestic and foreign patent prosecution, trademarks, intellectual property counseling and patent litigation. Mr. Puvak practices in a wide range of technologies including medical devices, electro-optics, integrated circuits, manufacturing, signal processing, mechanical devices, e-commerce and computer hardware/software. He has procured patent rights for large corporations, universities and start-up ventures. Mr. Puvak earned his J.D. from American University - Washington College of Law, cum laude, and his B.S.E.E. from The Pennsylvania State University, with Distinction.
Martin J. Cosenza focuses his practice on patent prosecution, intellectual property legal counseling, patent infringement litigation and risk arbitrage of intellectual property litigations. Mr. Cosenza is a licensed Professional Engineer who worked as an equipment design engineer at the Boeing Aircraft Corporation for seven years before graduating from law school. Mr. Cosenza is also an adjunct professor of law at The George Washington University Law School. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center with honors. Mr. Cosenza also holds an M.S. from Drexel University, an M.A. from Eastern College, and a B.S. from Syracuse University. Mr. Cosenza is a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia, and is a registered patent agent at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mark J. Kupets assists in the representation of clients in the area of patent prosecution and has prosecution experience in the medical device, electrical, computer, and semiconductor arts. Mr. Kupets earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude, and his B.S.E. from the University of Pennsylvania, summa cum laude.
