Eckert Seamans’ Janet Linn Named as Chair of the Committee on Patents of the New York City Bar Association

White Plains, NY – Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC, a full-service national law firm, has announced that Janet B. Linn has been named Chair of the Committee on Patents of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York effective September 1, 2010. The Committee addresses legal and policy issues relating to patents in the United States and internationally, as well as the operation of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Linn, a Member in the firm’s Litigation and Intellectual Property groups, is based in the firm’s White Plains office.
Ms. Linn concentrates her practice on intellectual property litigation, counseling and opinion work. She provides counsel and support to clients on the full range of intellectual property matters, from patent, trade secrets and trademarks, to unfair competition, copyright, false advertising and related antitrust issues. Her patent litigations have involved pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer products, software, and electronics. In addition to patent, trademark, trade secret and unfair competition litigation, her experience includes patent and trademark inter partes proceedings, trademark prosecution and copyright registration. She has particular expertise in Hatch Waxman ANDA litigation and the interface of patent and FDA law.
In addition to her work with the New York City Bar Association, she is a member of Women in Intellectual Property, and has regularly been named a “Super Lawyer” in intellectual property litigation by New York Super Lawyers. Linn earned a master of law’s degree in Trade Regulation from the New York University School of Law and a Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. She received a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and received her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from the State University of New York.
