Breakthrough Device Will Charge Smartphones Wirelessly
New Orleans, LA -- GoSolarUSA Inc. (PinkSheets: GSLO) announced today that the PREE Corporation filed a provisional patent application last week for its PREEcharge device, which can wirelessly charge portable electronics including the Apple iPhone.
The application, filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, describes the PREEcharge, a smartphone skin that utilizes new technology to harvest power from wireless radio-frequency (RF) signals, including those used by wireless local area networks (WLANs), CDMA transmissions, Bluetooth devices, and more. Once collected, the PREEcharge can apply this energy to portable devices such as smartphones in order to increase battery life. The PREEcharge also features solar cells to supplement the power needs of smartphones and other mobile devices.
PREE stands for “Providing Reliable Energy Everywhere.” The PREE Corporation inked a profit participation agreement with GoSolarUSA in July.

A common complaint from smartphone users is that their rechargeable phone batteries can’t keep up with the power-hungry demands of mobile applications, with a typical smartphone battery losing five to ten percent of its stored energy every hour while in use. The PREEcharge should allow smartphone users to charge their phones wirelessly using energy harvested from wireless LAN transmissions and solar rays.
