Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Technology Reduces Time to Deploy New Assets by up to 50%
Menlo Park, CA -- nlyte Software, the only provider of performance-based solutions for Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), today announced that it has been awarded a patent by the US Patent Office. The patent for invention number 7,765,286 B2 is for the auto-allocation of servers to the optimal rack in a datacenter, a key feature in the company’s Data Center Performance Management (DCPM) suite.
The auto-allocation feature uses sophisticated rules-based algorithms to search through the entire data center estate and then automatically finds the optimal location for a server and peripherals based on requirements for power, cooling, space and network connections. Auto-allocation eliminates the risks associated with exceeding any specific rack capacity thresholds which often can often cause major operational issues such as power outages or overheating. The auto-allocation feature also dramatically improves the time to deploy new assets and makes sure the right asset gets located in the right location the first time and every time.
The nlyte auto-allocation technology is an integral part of the modeling and control steps of the DCPM process cycle which uses six steps (Discover, Visualize, Model, Control, Report, and Predict) to help data center managers gain control of their data centers and make informed decisions for the planning and effective management of their data center assets and infrastructure.
"nlyte Software has evolved into a leading DCIM player in what is undoubtedly a multi-billion-dollar opportunity," said Andy Lawrence, research director at The 451 Group. "Their auto-allocation technology has been recognized with a patent, and reinforces their ability to help data center managers overcome some of the traditional operational challenges of the past."
“nlyte Software was founded by data center professionals for data center professionals,” said Jon Temple, nlyte Software president and CEO. “The award of this patent demonstrates our continued ability to focus on, and deliver, intellectual property that helps data center professionals solve real world problems on a daily basis.”
